Monkey Referrals (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates a referral program platform used by businesses and promoters: the website at monkeyreferrals.com, the business dashboard, the promoter portal, and the embeddable referral widget. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. Use of Monkey Referrals is also subject to our Terms of Service.
Information we collect
Account and profile
- Businesses: Your email address, your name, and your business name when you sign up, plus the profile and settings you add in the dashboard (such as a business description, website and sign-up links, allowed website domains, and a profile image).
- Promoters / customers: Your email address and display name, and your phone number if you sign in with it.
- Sign-in: If you sign in with Google, GitHub, Facebook, Apple, X, Microsoft, or Yahoo, we receive basic account details from that provider, such as your name and email address. If you sign in with your phone number, we collect that number (see “Phone numbers and text messages” below).
Referral widget on business websites
- When a business adds our widget to its website and you submit a form there, the widget sends us the email address, phone number, and name entered in that form (when present), the address of the page, the referral code you used (if any), and a random visitor identifier, so the business can credit the referral.
- If you ask for your own referral code through the widget, we collect the email address and optional name you enter, and email you your code and a confirmation link.
Referral and program data
- Referral codes, referral sign-ups (e.g. email), conversion and confirmation events, and reward or redemption information necessary to run the referral programs you participate in.
Technical and usage data
- We use authentication and hosting infrastructure (Google Firebase) that may log IP address, device, browser, and similar technical data in the course of providing the service.
- Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address and browser details when the fonts load. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
Phone numbers and text messages
If you choose to sign in with your phone number, we send a one-time verification code to that number by text message (SMS) through Firebase Authentication, a Google service. Google processes your number to deliver the code and to protect against abuse, and a Google reCAPTCHA check appears before a code is sent. A code is sent only when you request one. Msg & data rates may apply.
We use your phone number only to sign you in and secure your account. We do not send marketing text messages. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
How we use your information
We use the information above to provide and operate Monkey Referrals: to create and manage accounts, verify sign-ins, run referral programs (including sending referral-code and confirmation emails), process redemptions, keep the service secure, improve the service, and communicate with you about your account or support requests. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and local storage
- Firebase Authentication uses your browser’s storage to keep you signed in. Google reCAPTCHA may set cookies when you use phone sign-in.
- The business sign-up form saves the email address, name, and business name you enter in your browser’s local storage so sign-up can finish after you open the emailed link.
- On business websites that use our widget, it stores the referral code from a referral link, a random visitor identifier, and any unsent referral details in local and session storage so referrals can be credited.
You can clear or block this storage through your browser settings; doing so may sign you out, stop referrals from being credited, or affect your ability to use the dashboard or promoter portal.
Sharing and third parties
We rely on service providers to run the platform: Google Firebase (authentication, including text-message verification codes, database, cloud functions, hosting, and file storage), Google reCAPTCHA, SendGrid (email delivery), and the sign-in provider you choose. They process data only as needed to provide those services.
When you join a business’s referral program, that business can see your referral details, such as your email address or phone number, name, and referral status, in its dashboard. A business’s name, description, and profile image appear on its public profile and in the business directory. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or safety.
Data retention
We retain account and referral data for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate the referral programs and comply with legal obligations. You can ask us to delete or correct your data (see “Your rights” below).
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights or ask questions about your data, contact us at support@
Children
Monkey Referrals is intended for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of Monkey Referrals after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
